Welcome To Our Department
The Department of Building started in 1977 as an Academic Unit in the Department of Environmental Planning, Design and Management in the Faculty of Technology. It became a department in 1981 and was drafted to the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management formed in 1982.
The Department of Building has since its establishment offered undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Building. These programmes have provided technical and problem-solving skills by bringing together construction technology and materials, structural analysis and design, sustainable construction, green building, energy management, maintenance technology and management, risk management, construction economics and building information modelling to support a sustainable built environment. The Department has graduated students in B.Sc. Building and M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D in Building Structures, Building Maintenance, Building Services and Construction Management and has contributed to developing professionals for effective transformation of the environment through the creation and application of knowledge.
