Professor

Professor Omotayo Olugbenga Aina is a distinguished Construction Management scholar and Registered Builder with over three decades of academic, professional, and industry experience. He is a Professor in the Department of Building, Faculty of Environmental Design and Management at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he has served since 1992 and attained the rank of Professor in 2014. He previously held the position of Head of Department and has contributed extensively to university governance and quality assurance.

Professor Aina holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Construction Management and a B.Sc. (Hons) in

Building from Obafemi Awolowo University. He is a Corporate Member of the Nigerian

Institute of Building and a Registered Builder with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON). He has also served widely as Chairman and Member of accreditation panels for the National Universities Commission and the National Board for Technical Education.

His research focuses on construction technology and construction management, with particular emphasis on incentive schemes, construction productivity, human resource development, buildability, safety culture, procurement systems, and efficiency in construction processes. He has supervised numerous M.Sc. and Ph.D. candidates and has an extensive publication record in reputable local and international journals. His studies on incentive schemes in the Nigerian construction industry have significantly contributed to understanding productivity enhancement and workforce motivation.

In addition to his academic work, Professor Aina has substantial industry experience in construction supervision and structural engineering, and he has contributed to professional development through conference leadership and accreditation activities. He is widely respected for his scholarship, mentorship, and contributions to advancing construction management practice and research in Nigeria.
